Options and
Equipment
This started out
as a fully
loaded 1/2 ton,
standard length
van. And when
it was nearly
new it was
converted into a
wheelchair van
by a specialist
in Spokane
Washington. The
is a Château
model, which are
quite uncommon
and was the
fanciest, most
well-equipped
model available.
It has a long
list of features
including; 5.8
V8 and automatic
with overdrive,
dual A/C,
solar-glass,
special seats
with power and
lumbar, rear
seat folds to
bed, special
lighting and
consoles, pearl
paint, custom
wheels, extra
gauges and much
more...it's
super equipped.
As for the
conversion, it
is also rare and
uncommon for two
particular
reasons. 1)
there are very
few cases when
full size vans
have a LOWERED
FLOOR such as
this one has.
Normally,
headroom is
achieved with
raised roofs on
full size vans
and lowered
floors on
minivans. The
great thing
about this van
is that it has
the interior and
entry height you
want and need,
but without the
appearance of
being a
wheelchair van
that the raised
roofs lead to
and also this
has much better
ECONOMY due to
much less wind
drag than a
raised roof van.
And many
mobility-challenged
folks tell me
that they don't
want to be in a
van that looks
like a
wheelchair
van...this one
looks nothing
like one :) And
it is also
unusual because
it has the
ability to split
and fold the
ramp in the
middle, which
allows for
access in and
out of the
sliding door
when the ramp is
up. This is a
great (and
essential)
feature for when
you want to have
passengers in
the rear seat
and don't want a
big hassle with
the ramp system.
*** Includes (as
you see in the
photos) a full
set of almost
brand new
quality snow
tires on steel
wheels and also
the full set of
original alloys
to supplement
the custom
wheels you
currently see on
the van.

History of Care
As with all of
my 'Rick's
rejuvenated'
wheelchair vans,
this is now in
top condition in
every way.
Although I don't
have receipts
for the great
care it had in
its prior life,
it is now in
superb
condition. I
was told that
the old man who
owned it and
recently died
took great care
of it and
usually at the
Ford dealer in
Spokane. I had
my mechanic do a
long checklist
on it and the
few things that
he suggested
have attention
have all been
taken care of.
This includes;
Transmission
service, oil and
fluids service,
new rear brakes
and a new
serpentine belt.
Also, as part of
my 'Rick's
rejuvenated'
process with
these wheelchair
vans, I have a
special mechanic
who is an expert
in mobility
equipment do a
service and
inspection on
relevant
components.
Mobility
equipment has
been adjusted,
lubricated and
miscellaneous
care given.
As part of
my 'Rick's
rejuvenated''
process for
wheelchair vans,
each mobility
component is
inspected,
serviced,
adjusted and
repaired (if
needed) by the
premium company
in this area
which
exclusively
cares for
wheelchair vans.
