Hello, thank you for visiting.

My goal with this page is to talk about the general nature of auto consignment.  And to explain in some detail  how my program works. I understand that many folks are not familiar with consignments, Hopefully this will help.

What is consignment?  Simply put, this is when you leave an item that you want to sell with a business and when it sells they receive some pre-determined form of payment (usually a percentage or flat fee) when your item sells.

Why consign?  Because a professional consignor has a business specializing in selling items like yours. This gives your item a great amount of exposure to potential buyers. And because the professional has extensive experience preparing, marketing and selling items like yours, a 'retail' selling price results. Where as when you sell from your home it will usually take longer, with much more effort and a lower selling price.

Is consignment for you?  Quite possibly. I'll ask you this: if when your vehicle sells you put as much or more money in your pocket than if you had invested your own time, effort and ad costs, would that be good for you?  And what if you were to actually end up with a bit less in your pocket, but you did not have to do any cleaning, placing ads, answering calls and never had to show the car...would that still be good for you?

If any of this seems like something you're interested in, here are some points about how I can help you and why I believe my consignment process is better for you than any other professional in the Rogue Valley.

8I have a maximum of  10 vehicles for sale: as a result, every one gets a lot of attention from me before and during marketing. This leads to getting your vehicle sold in reasonable time for a 'retail' price.  Other dealers have far more vehicles for sale and yours can easily get 'lost and forgotten'.

8Auto shoppers come to me for quality: if your vehicle currently is a 'gem' (relative to age, miles and price range) or has what I consider to be great potential, it will do well here. Because, people pay more for nicer vehicles.  If after seeing your vehicle I offer to consign it, rest assured you will have great exposure to the right kind of buyers.  Many dealers tend to put anything on their lot that comes along, regardless of overall quality.  Shoppers sense that and it can hurt your cars chances even if it is nice.

8Advertising and focused marketing gets results:  In addition to the exposure created by my high traffic location in downtown Medford,  I spend an average of $50 per week per vehicle for various ads.  This money is spent on local, regional and national advertising.  Ads make my phone ring, for your car! Other dealers rely heavily on people seeing your car when driving by.

8People like interacting with the business owner, rather than a salesperson;  I have no salespeople and no one answers my phone except me. And I am available most days and for long hours.  This means that no matter if day or night, weekday or weekend, I am personally available to answer calls and show your car. Shoppers seem to like it that way. Virtually every other dealer has salespeople (often times with no knowledge or care for your car) taking calls and showing vehicles to shoppers, which can lead to missing a sale for your car.

8I am personally very motivated to get your car sold;  this is a small business, less than a year old (but I do have a lifetime of auto experience) and is my entire livelihood.  Because of this, I work very hard every day to do as well as possible. In the great tradition of small business people, I consider it my mission to 'earn' every penny that comes my way. This means that I will bust my behind to get your car sold.  Other dealers may be able to rest on their laurels and be a bit lazy, but not me, I work hard for you every day.

8Intending to be Mr. Nice Guy:  you can rest assured that I will represent you and your vehicle with utmost truth and respect. It is very important to me to follow a couple of old adages. One is that I 'do as I say and say as I do' at all times.  And I also follow 'the golden rule'.  If you do business with me I promise you an experience you will feel good about from start to finish.   I can't fix the wrongs done by decades of auto dealers and salespeople acting improperly, but I can promise you that I will do all I can to treat you well...and get you as much money in your pocket as possible.

If you're interested in talking to me about any of this, I would love to hear from you.  Here's what the next steps are;

1) Please call me and we can chat about your circumstances and the description of what you may like to have me help you sell.

2) You can come to my location in downtown Medford and show me your vehicle.  And If needed, I can usually come to you. We will talk a bit about it and go for a quick drive.  Once we have done that I will have all of the info I need to make a proposal for you and you can go on your way.

3) Next, I spend an hour or so doing extensive research as to what I believe the true market value for your vehicle to be. I also consider what reconditioning I think your vehicle needs in order to make it nicely ready for retail sale. Once I have done this process then I will contact you with a couple of suggestions as to the consignment agreement I have in mind.

4) Finally, if after hearing my consignment proposal you would like me to sell it for you, then you bring your vehicle, we sign a simple agreement and I go to work for you.  And when it sells I will happily send you a cashiers check for the amount we had agreed upon.

So there you have it, consignment in a nutshell.  Please feel free to call or write anytime.

Sincerely,

Rick Bohr
